Relevant Teaching: Nearly every week we open our Bibles and learn directly from scripture about different topics, we have small group discussion, and we talk about how we can apply what we learned to our lives today. Every student is invited to participate, and we have some fantastic questions and discussions.
Build Community: Every week starts with some time to just hang out and get to know each other. One of the most valuable things we can do is to help students connect with one another, so that they can challenge and encourage each other to continue growing closer to God. Aside from our weekly “hang out” time, we also have retreats and lock-ins where students grow closer and develop friendships that last well beyond the school year.
Encounter Jesus: The most important thing that we do is to provide a time and place for students to encounter Jesus. At least quarterly, we have worship nights where the entire evening is spent in worship and prayer. These times provide space for students to get alone with God and hear from him directly, to receive prayer and/or words from the leaders there, and to spend time in prayer with one another. We also have a time of prayer at the end of almost every Wednesday, and we have seen God move and answer those prayers in many ways, from healing broken bones, to making a dumb dog a little smarter, and everything in between. We teach and believe that God is active today, and that every believer can hear from him and minister in his authority, no matter how young.
ENCOUNTER LIFE is dedicated to sending kids from kindergarten through high school to Covenant Cedars Bible Camp. Each year our church holds multiple fundraisers in order to send as many children to the camp as possible. If you’d like more information, please contact the church office.
